The Culpeper Branch of the NAACP has announced that the organization’s 44th annual Freedom Fund Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 4, at noon. Pepper’s Grill in Culpeper will again serve as the venue for the event. Themed “Standing Strong in the Midst of Adversity,” the banquet will feature a line-up of exceptional speakers and musicians.
Branch President Kaleb J. Hackley recently announced that this year’s honoree will be John J. “Butch” Davies of Culpeper. Recently retired after a 50-year career as an attorney, Davies also served four terms in the Virginia House of Delegates. An ardent civil rights advocate, he has also been devoted to community service for many years.
Speakers set to honor Davies include the Rev. Frank D. Lewis of Antioch Baptist Church in Madison and the Rev. Dr. Sheldon Pleasant of Antioch Baptist Church of Culpeper. Musical groups will include Brother Jesse Hines & Company.
Information about the banquet may be found in our 2025 Save the Date Letter and 2025 FF Reservation and Sponsorship Form. The branch is seeking sponsors for the event as well as door prize donors. Individual tickets remain priced at $50; with youth (under 21) tickets at $25. Last year’s event was sold out; members and friends are encouraged to reserve tickets early. Tickets may be purchased by mailing a check made out to NAACP Culpeper to P.O. Box 687, Culpeper, VA, 22701 or online at our ActBlue site. Note: Reservations for the 2025 Freedom Fund banquet are now closed. Donations may still be made at the ActBlue site. Thank you!
